As a middle grade doctor, I was only too aware of the changes that were taking place in the NHS. The problem was that my only sources of information were the national and sometimes the medical press. It was unsettling to arrive at work and find yet another initiative in place. One day a flyer from the AOO arrived in my in tray on Primary Ophthalmic Care. I went along to the meeting and was pleasantly surprised by the openness in which topics were discussed regardless of grade of doctor. I left the meeting feeling informed and genuinely listened to. The next meeting I went to was equally inspiring. As clinicians we are best placed to work in the interests of our patients and burying our head in the sand is no longer an option. Join the AOO and see what it can do for you. |
