The A.O.O offers an independent view of developments that are taking place in the industry in which you work in. Many of these changes could take place without your knowlegde. The A.O.O. will keep you up to date with all issues that effect you, so you can voice your optinion before its to late.

Influencing Policy

A key feature of the AOO’s work is the role it plays in influencing the development of policy in its relationships with various healthcare organisations, the government and politicians. Our meetings with government and civil servants enable us to channel information from our membership where difficulties are encountered; or where there are developments which have wider membership interest.

Supporting Members

We do this by being at the forefront in offering support and guidance to members through a wide range of services, events and activities including;

  • A dedicated  website and email service
  • Events, including training days, workshops, webcasts and conferences, all are offered to members at discounted rates. Latest details can be found under events on this website.
  • Rapid news updates; we deliver daily and weekly news briefings through the eyespace, and bi-annual newsletters free of charge to our members.

Membership is open to consultant ophthalmic surgeons, associate specialists, staff grade ophthalmologists, and training grades. Annual subscription is only £50.
